Users sometimes encounter an issue in which the play button and other media controls on FATpick's song player are disabled, appearing as a grayed-out button that cannot be clicked. The most common cause for this symptom is that FATpick is blocked from accessing the microphone due to the operating system's security or privacy settings. Here's how to address that issue on Windows.
Windows allows for fine-grained control over access to the microphone and other audio input devices. Hence there are a couple of relevant settings, but all are found under the microphone privacy control panel.
To check your microphone privacy settings:
Go to the "Start" menu (Windows icon), select "Settings" (the cog icon), then "Privacy" (or "Privacy & security") and finally "Microphone".
Make sure microphone access is enabled in general ("Allow access to the microphone on this device").
Make sure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.
Scroll down below the "Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your microphone" to the section labelled "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone". Make sure this setting is turned on. (You should also see FATpick in the list of desktop apps here, since it should have requested microphone access already.)
If you changed any of those settings, restart the FATpick app to test if the problem has been fixed.
If after following this process you are still experiencing issues, please contact FATpick support for assistance.
